Closed Doors, Open Windows is intended to be a place of discovery. Discovery of what, you may be wondering? Well, as the famous saying goes, “When God closes a door, He opens a window”. Experiencing a recent closed door, I choose to focus on the window that’s beginning to crack open, letting the cool refreshing air rush in once again. Yet beyond that, I now have a wider vision: Countless windows that are waiting to be discovered so that they too can be opened by you and I. Courage is crucial to this process of allowing the doors to close that should be, while pursuing the windows that need to be opened. As such, I see limitless possibilities to blog about a journey of discovery based on doors closing and windows opening. Discovery of self, life, love, dreams, belief, hope, ideals, art, culture, food, creativity, emotions, literature, music, passion — just to name a few. Please join me along the journey of Closed Doors, Open Windows!

I recently lost my husband to cancer and am looking for the “Open Windows”. I’m finding that the real windows are all within my heart and they are opening just a crack as the weeks go by. I’m curious to know if the saying “When God closes a door, He opens a window” is based on a particular scripture, or is just loosely based on the teachings of scripture.

Kathy, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. As my Mom continues to fight her battle with Stage 4 Bone Cancer, I can only imagine what you are going through. My prayers go out to you. Thank you for sharing your beautiful perspective on windows – in your heart, beginning to crack open after time. The saying is actually a very memorable line of Maria from “The Sound of Music”, so yes, more loosely based on scripture. God bless you!

My blog can be found at: http://pamelasopenwindow.blogspot.com Come on over and visit awhile! God bless your work…we are both reaching others with encouragement in the name of Christ…that’s the only Name that really matters!
